More H-E-B stores in North Texas: Here’s where supermarket plans to open next

H-E-B is committed to its expansion in North Texas, with nine stores either in construction or opening soon.

Since 2022, H-E-B has opened eight stores in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. And the Star-Telegram just broke the news that another Fort Worth location will start construction in West Fort Worth at FM 3325 and I-20 Service Road in the Walsh development.

The popular grocer began in Kerrville in 1905. Now, the H-E-B empire has grown to 430 stores in Texas and Mexico. With 13 stores overall in the metroplex, let’s take a look at where and when they opened, and what’s to come.

In addition to the new Fort Worth location, there are several more stores coming to North Texas in the next few years.

The first DFW H-E-B openings

H-E-B has been in North Texas for over a decade now. The first ever DFW store opened in Burleson in 2010.

The metroplex encapsulates the Parker County line in West Fort Worth all the way to Rockwall County line in East Dallas. According to the Texas Comptroller, the counties that make up the metroplex include Hood, Johnson, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant, Wise, Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hunt, Kaufman and Rockwall counties.

After the Burleson store opened, these locations followed:

Central Market, H-E-B’s gourmet grocer, has been present in North Texas since 2001.

Past H-E-B store openings in the Metroplex

H-E-B has opened eight grocery stores in the Metroplex since 2022.

2024 was the busiest year yet for H-E-B openings in the Metroplex.

  • Fort Worth’s Alliance store opened at 3451 Heritage Trace Pkwy in April of 2024.

  • Mansfield at 1670 E Broad St. opened in June of 2024.

  • Frisco’s second location opened at 899 University Dr. in August of 2024.

And finally, the most recent H-E-B opening was in Melissa at 1230 Central Expy. in May of this year.
