Fort Worth got its first H-E-B store in 2024. Now, Dallas is finally getting one, too.
H-E-B has purchased property in Dallas to build its first grocery store in the city, the company announced Thursday morning.
The 10-acre property is at the southeast corner of Hillcrest Road and LBJ Freeway.
Last June, H-E-B opened a Joe V’s Smart Shop, its budget-friendly brand, in Dallas. A second Dallas Joe V’s is expected to open this spring at 5204 S. Buckner Blvd. H-E-B also operates three Central Market locations in Dallas.
“While we have a lot of work to do, we look forward to connecting with our neighbors, the city, and community stakeholders to ensure we create a destination that best supports this community,” said Mabrie Jackson, public affairs managing director for H-E-B and Central Market.
The San Antonio-based grocer has rapidly expanded in North Texas over the past few years. Six H-E-B stores are under construction across the Metroplex; construction costs for all of those locations combined total over $168 million.
H-E-B has opened seven locations in the Metroplex since 2022, including its two Tarrant County stores in Alliance and Mansfield. Tarrant County’s third H-E-B, located near the Bedford-Euless line, is expected to open in mid-2026.
One of the largest private companies in the U.S., H-E-B’s sales were over $43.6 billion in 2023. The company has more than 435 stores across Texas and Mexico.
