H-E-B to open its newest Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex store in Melissa in May

H-E-B will be opening its newest Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex location in Melissa next month.

Located at 1230 Central Expressway, the grocery store will open at 6 a.m. on May 14. In addition to H-E-B staples like in-store made tortillas and guacamole, the new store will have a full-service, drive-thru pharmacy and a True Texas BBQ restaurant with a drive-thru.

Construction of the $42 million store began in January 2024, according to state records.

H-E-B has aggressively expanded in North Texas over the past few years. The grocer opened its first two Tarrant County stores in Alliance and Mansfield last year.

The company’s growth isn’t likely to slow anytime soon. Six new Metroplex locations are in development, three of which are expected to open in 2026. Stores in Prosper and Rockwall will likely open later this year.

H-E-B opened the second Dallas location of its budget-friendly brand, Joe V’s Smart Shop, at 7700 Samuel Blvd. in March.

H-E-B has over 435 stores in Texas and Mexico, and employs more than 160,000 people. One of the largest private companies in the country, H-E-B’s sales topped $46 billion in 2024.
