A well-made hot dog in the summertime can feel like a religious experience, whether you’re enjoying one at the ballpark, Costco or at your favorite dive bar.

There’s no shortage of fine places to find some franks around Fort Worth. But who makes the best hot dog? The Star-Telegram wants to know.

We went looking for the best hot dog in the Fort Worth area, and y’all delivered. When we asked for submissions earlier in June, you didn’t disappoint. We whittled down your suggestions to a list of 10 potential candidates. (Sorry, the dogs you cook at your own house don’t count. We love the confidence, though!)

After hundreds of votes, y’all declared Curly’s Frozen Custard as the winner! The Fort Worth dessert spot also features Nathan’s Hot Dogs, plus chili from the Texas Chili Company.

Keep reading to see a full list of all of the restaurants nominated, plus how we organized voting rounds.

Here are the details:

  • The first round determined the Top 5. It was live from about 2 p.m. Monday, June 9 until 2 p.m. Thursday, June 12.

  • The second round determined the Top 4. It was live from about 2 p.m. June 12 until 2 p.m. Sunday, June 15.

  • The third round determined the Top 3. It was live from about 2 p.m. June 15 until 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 18.

  • The fourth round determined the Top 2. It was live from about 2 p.m. June 18 until 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21.

  • The final round determined the winner. It was live from about 2 p.m. June 21 until 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 24.

And remember, this was not a scientific poll or survey — it was just for fun!
