The Fourth of July is this Friday, and the D-FW area is teeming with holiday festivities and events geared toward the whole family.
Check out this list below of some of the events happening on Thursday, July 3 and Friday, July 4 — many are free, and not all of them involve fireworks.
Fort Worth’s Fourth
Fort Worth is hosting its 18th annual Fort Worth’s Fourth fireworks show at Panther Island Pavilion on Friday, July 4. The event will feature festival food, cold drinks, kids’ activities, live music and a fireworks show beginning at 9:30 p.m. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and admission is free. There will also be special performance by a rock band from the U.S. Air Force Bands at 8 p.m.
Brews and Booms at Panther Island Brewing in Fort Worth
Another option in Fort Worth is Brews and Booms at Panther Island Brewing, located at 501 N. Main St. This event will feature food trucks, a photo booth, face painting, and a great view of the fireworks at Fort Worth’s Fourth. Kids welcome; single-pour guests get in free. A $25 wristband includes four drinks and a souvenir cup. Doors open at noon on Friday, July 4. Buy tickets here.
Kaboom Town! in Addison
North Texas’ biggest fireworks show turns 40 this year. Around 500,000 people visit Addison annually for the city’s Airport Airshow, followed by Kaboom Town!, the city’s huge fireworks display.
This year, the festivities go from 5-11 p.m. on Thursday, July 3 at Addison Circle Park, with the fireworks launch happening around 9:30 p.m. Free parking is available at multiple parking garages around town. Tickets are $5 for kids and $10 for ages 10 and up.
Light Up Arlington
Arlington is hosting its Independence Day festivities on Thursday, July 3rd. The day kicks off with the third annual Firecracker 5K at 7 a.m. The 60th annual Arlington Independence Day Parade begins at 9 a.m. in downtown Arlington. Guests will include the 1st Cavalry Division Band from Fort Hood.
The Light Up Arlington event will begin later on in the day at 6 p.m. in downtown Arlington. There will be musical acts, vendors, food trucks, and kid-friendly fun. Parking is free throughout downtown Arlington, but people should be aware of parking lot and street closures in the area.
Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Festival in Grand Prairie
One way to celebrate in Grand Prairie this year: Head on down to Lone Star Park and enjoy live horse racing, music by The Mullet Boyz, a petting zoo, pony rides, and fireworks. The party goes from 3-11 p.m. Friday, July 4, and tickets range from $10-$90.
The Star-Spangled Spectacular in Dallas
If you don’t want to go outside, you’re in luck. The Dallas Winds present The Star-Spangled Spectacular, a patriotic, air-conditioned concert at the Meyerson Symphony Center (2301 Flora St.) featuring American classics and indoor fireworks —plus hot dogs and ice cream. The concert starts at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 4, and tickets range from $35-$90.
Fair Park Fourth in Dallas
Another Dallas option is Fair Park Fourth, a free event at Fair Park, home of the State Fair of Texas. The event lasts from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Friday, July 4, and features food trucks, live music and a spectacular fireworks show you can view from the Cotton Bowl or anywhere in the park. Admission is free, but there is a parking fee.
Red, White & BOOM in McKinney
The City of McKinney is putting on several events this Fourth of July. First, there’s an Independence Day parade and block party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, July 4 in downtown McKinney. Then that night, enjoy fireworks and a concert from the Big City Outlaws at Towne Lake Park from 6-10 p.m. There’s also food, shopping and live entertainment throughout the historic district.
Grapevine July 4th Fireworks Extravaganza
Grapevine’s fireworks show will start at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 4, with fireworks launched from the Oak Grove Soccer Complex (1299 Oak Grove Loop North). There’s even an option to listen along to the City’s pre-selected fireworks soundtrack online.
Denton Kiwanis fireworks show
The City of Denton and the Denton Noon Kiwanis Club will host a fireworks show on Thursday, July 3 at the North Texas Fairgrounds from 6 to 10 p.m.. Admission will be free, but individuals wishing to park at the fairgrounds will have a $10 parking fee. There will be live music, face painting, and food and drinks available for purchase. No glass bottles are allowed.
Northeast Tarrant County Family 4th Celebration
Tarrant County will host its Family 4th Celebration on Thursday, July 3 from 5-10 p.m. The fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. There will be a corn dog eating contest beginning at 6:30 p.m. along with food trucks, a free concert and inflatables. Parking is free and will be available at the Wiley G. Thomas Coliseum, 6108 Broadway Avenue; BISD Plaza; and 6351 Boulevard 26 in North Richland Hills. No alcohol or personal fireworks are allowed.
Hurst Stars & Stripes
The city of Hurst, Texas will host a Fourth of July event on Thursday July 3 at the Hurst Community Park. The fireworks show will begin at 9:30 p.m. Gates will open at 6 p.m. and there will be vendors serving coffee, tacos, smash burgers, barbecue, snow cones and biscuit. No alcohol or tents are allowed.
Keller Lights
The City of Keller is hosting its Keller Lights Show event on Thursday, July 3 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Keller Town Hall, featuring food and drink vendors. There will be free shuttle serving from Life Church and the Keller High School football stadium.
Fireworks Frenzy After Hours at Hawaiian Falls
Hawaiian Falls Mansfield is hosting its Fireworks Frenzy After Hours Event on Thursday, July 3 from 5-9 p.m., featuring a Taylor Swift tribute concert at 7 p.m. Tickets are $39.99 per person for an all-day pass to the water park or $14.99 to gain after hours admission to the park. Parking is included in the tickets, and all of the attractions will be open until sunset.
The event is free for Hawaiian Falls season pass holders. Guests can watch the fireworks display held by the city of Mansfield from Heritage Parkway and National Parkway behind Hawaiian Falls and the Mansfield Sports Park.
