The Fourth of July is right around the corner, which means some Fort Worth businesses may be closed for the patriotic holiday.

On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence and signed the Declaration of Independence two days later. Since 1941, the Fourth of July has been a federal holiday.

Here’s what will be open or closed on Independence Day.

Is H-E-B open on the Fourth of July?

Yes, H-E-B will be open on the Fourth, along with most other grocers.

Walmart, Target, Aldi, Kroger, Albertsons and Sam’s Club will all be open on the Fourth. Costco will be closed for the holiday.

Are liquor stores open on the Fourth of July?

Yes, liquor stores in Texas are open on Independence Day.

The only time liquor stores are closed in Texas is on Sundays, New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, per Texas law. Most liquor stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Are city of Fort Worth services open the Fourth of July?

Yes and no.

Several city offices will be closed, such as City Hall and all public library locations. However, garbage collection will operate as normal on the holiday.

Are Fort Worth banks and the post office open on the Fourth of July?

Nope, most banks in Fort Worth will be closed on Independence Day.

United State Postal Offices will be closed as well, since the Fourth is a federal holiday.
