Michigan is latest offer for Aledo freshman back Jase McClellan

Aledo freshman running back Jase McClellan is up to a dozen college offers after Michigan was the latest school, McClellan announced on Wednesday via Twitter.

McClellan had a first high school season to remember, helping the Bearcats to the Class 5A Division II state title on Dec. 16 — a 24-16 victory over Corpus Christi Calallen. McClellan was voted Offensive MVP with 98 yards rushing and a 59-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

The state title was just the start as SMU offered McClellan a day later. McClellan, who finished the season with 1,528 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns, was named MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year in January.

McClellan’s teammate, offensive lineman and U.S. Army All-American Chuck Filiaga, signed with Michigan in February. Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh visited Aledo on Dec. 5.

Schools that have offered McClellan: Baylor, Georgia, Houston, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, SMU, TCU and Texas A&M.
