Keep up with all the coaching changes in DFW for the 2020 high school football season

The Texas high school football season is a few months away, but the off-season continues with coaching changes.

Spring football and summer 7-on-7 seasons are canceled due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak. However, it isn’t stopping from schools at getting new leaders in hopes of a successful 2020 season in the fall.

Here are the coaching changes in DFW:

Addison Greenhill

New coach: Tony Banks

Old coach: Casey Selfridge

Assistant coach Tony Banks replaced Selfridge, who was with the program for three seasons, in March.

Bonham

New coach: Kyle Dezern

Old coach: John Fish

The Purple Warriors hired Melissa assistant head coach Kyle Dezern in December.

Burleson

New coach: Jon Kitna

Old coach: Gary McElroy

Kitna, a former NFL quarterback, last coached Texas high school ball at Waxahacie for three seasons. He moved to Phoenix before being the QBs coach for the Dallas Cowboys in 2019.

Callisburg

New coach: Eddie Gill

Old coach: Gary Jack

Jack resigned after three seasons and was replaced by former Whitesboro head coach Eddie Gill in January.

Carrollton Turner

New coach: Open

Old coach: Isaiah Young

Young moved up to take a position with Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD administration.

Colleyville Heritage

New coach: Kirk Martin

Old coach: Joe Willis

After five seasons, Willis moved over to Tyler Lee. He was replaced by Martin, who last coached high school ball at Manvel, which won two state titles and played in the 2017 state title game vs. Highland Park.

Dallas Bishop Dunne

New coach: Open

Old coach: Michael Johnson

Johnson resigned in January after leading the Falcons to two TAPPS state titles.

Dallas Carter

New coach: Spencer Gilbert

Old coach: Patrick Williams

Lancaster Offensive Coordinator Spencer Gilbert takes over for Williams, who led the Cowboys for nine seasons.

Dallas Conrad

New coach: Josh Ragsdale

Old coach: James Davis

Kemp assistant coach Josh Ragsdale in February and he’ll look to turn a program that went 1-9 last season.

Denton Guyer

New coach: Rodney Webb

Old coach: John Walsh

The Wildcats went 14-2 last season and made a trip to the Class 6A Division 2 state title game. Walsh started the program and had been with Guyer for 14 seasons before resigning in March. Webb comes over from Rockwall, where he spent the past seven seasons. He has compiled a 141-77 record in 18 years as a head coach.

Fossil Ridge

New coach: Derek Ramsey

Old coach: Tony Baccarini

Baccarini retired from coaching and moved to analytics. He was the profession for 33 years and 17 with the Panthers.

FW Carter-Riverside

New coach: Phillip Murray

Old coach: Jim Jeffries

Jeffries retired after 16 seasons with the Eagles, who are riding a 27-game losing streak.

FW Paschal

New coach: Open

Old coach: Chris James

The Panthers went 5-15 in two seasons with James, including 2-8 in 2019.

Irving MacArthur

New coach: Open

Old coach: Ronny Mullins

Arlington Defensive Coordinator Billy Skinner was hired in February to replace Mullins, who announced his retirement.

Keller Central

New coach: Mike Sports

Old coach: Bart Helsley

Helsley was hired as assistant athletic director at Keller ISD after leading the Chargers for 17 years since the school opened. Sports was Central defensive coordinator since 2010

Lovejoy

New coach: Chris Ross

Old coach: Todd Ford

Ford resigned in January after four seasons with the Leopards, compiling a 24-20 record.

Mansfield

New coach: Open

Old coach: Daniel Maberry

Maberry spent the past two decades in the Mansfield ISD. He lost his battle to cancer in February. Offensive Coordinator Greg George was interim head coach.

Nevada Community

New coach: Open

Old coach: Jeremy Turner

Turner led the Braves for the past four seasons.

Plano

New coach: Todd Ford

Old coach: Jaydon McCullough

McCullough spent nearly the past 30 years on the Wildcats staff. Ford was hired in March after leading Lovejoy.

Peaster

New coach: Gary McElroy

Old coach: Open

The Greyhounds will begin UIL varsity football in the fall. McElroy comes over from Burleson, where he led the Elks for nine seasons.

Prosper Rock Hill

New coach: Mark Humble

Old coach: Open

New school Rock Hill will start playing in the fall. Humble comes over from Frisco Lone Star, where he was the Offensive Coordinator. He helped the Rangers to the 5A Division 1 state semifinals.

Red Oak

New coach: Michael Quintro

Old coach: Chris Ross

Ross takes over at Lovejoy after two seasons with the Hawks, compiling a 20-4 record. Quintro was Red Oak’s special teams coordinator.

Rockwall

New coach: Trey Brooks

Old coach: Rodney Webb

Webb, who was hired at Denton Guyer, joined the Yellowjackets in 2013 and led them to a playoff win every season, including their first in 22 years. Last season, Rockwall went 12-3 and made a trip the state semifinals for the first time since 1987.

Timber Creek

New coach: Marshall Williams

Old coach: Kevin Golden

Golden started the program and was with the Falcons for 10 seasons before announcing his retirement. Southlake Carroll Offensive Coordinator Marshall Williams in February.

Waxahachie Life

New coach: Micah Stanley

Old coach: Heath Blalock

Blalock resigned after six seasons and a 34-30 record. Offensive Coordinator Micah Stanley was promoted.

West Mesquite

New coach: Frank Sandoval

Old coach: Jeff Neill

Neill led the Wranglers for the past seven seasons. Sandoval was hired in January after leading Mexia.

Wylie

New coach: Jimmy Carter

Old coach: Bill Howard

Howard retired from the Pirates after 14 seasons. Defensive Coordinator Jimmy Carter takes over.
