Here’s how Dallas-Fort Worth high school athletes are staying sane during coronavirus

Athletes are finding creative ways to pass the time during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak. With seasons suspended, athletes from all levels are going to social media to find some happiness.

From trick shots, challenges and workouts, you can find nearly anything on your Twitter feed, including Stephen Curry and Mike Trout, who are showcasing their golf swings in unique fashion.

High school athletes in Dallas-Fort Worth are in quarantine like the rest of the Metroplex. The UIL suspended the athletic season with games returning at the earliest on May 4.

Practices could come earlier in April, but in the meantime, athletes need to stay active.

Bobby Witt Jr., former Colleyville Heritage All-American and No. 2 overall draft pick to Kansas City, found a way to mix baseball and basketball with this trick shot.

Volleyball isn’t in season, but that doesn’t stop Denton Guyer from having fun. The Wildcats, who were a win away from the state tournament last season, found a way to pass the ball to each other while practicing social distancing.

Former Guyer shortstop and Tarleton State freshman had a unique in-home workout. That’s one way to use your furniture.

Keeping with social distancing, the Waxahachie Life girls soccer team managed to kick the ball around.

Continuing with social distancing, softball teams around the country started to splice up some fun Tik Tok videos, including the McKinney Lionettes.

Nolan Catholic softball joined in and you may recognize this song from a hit TV sitcom.

Let’s not forget Byron Nelson softball too. Great job ladies.

One of the top football players in the nation is Fort Worth All Saints offensive lineman James Brockermeyer. He found a way to stay in training with the help from twin brother and top-ranked 2021 Tommy Brockermeyer and former Texas Longhorn All-American father, Blake.

Kaleb James, a freshman defensive end at Nolan Catholic, kept up his workout routine by pushing his dad’s Tundra.

One of the challenges going viral is the See 10 Do 10 push-up challenge. Aledo sophomore Macy Graf and her family accepted and knocked it out together.

Another challenge, for you soccer players, involves toilet paper since everyone is going crazy for it at the store. The toilet roll challenge sees how many times athletes can keep the roll in the air without touching the ground. Here’s Brewer head girls coach Alyson Stallcup, a former standout at Keller and North Texas.

Arkansas State bound and Burleson Centennial senior Cooper Cowan did an excellent job as well.

And we can’t forget yours truly. Couldn’t reach double figures, but he’ll take it.
