State’s top ranked Class of 2021 and 2022 high school football players are from DFW

Southlake Carroll 4-star quarterback Quinn Ewers, who’s projected to commit with Oklahoma, is ranked as the No. 2 high school football player in the nation, according to the newest rankings for the Class of 2022 by 247Sports.

He is the No. 1 player in the state (2022).

Ewers, who was voted District 5-6A MVP in 2019, is behind 5-star Shemar Stewart (Monsignor Pace, FL).

Ewers threw 4,003 yards and 45 touchdowns last season as the Dragons went 13-1 and finished in the state quarterfinals. He only threw three interceptions and completed 72.4% of his passes.

Ewers averaged 286 yards per game and was named MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year.

The 6-foot-3 play maker holds 20 offers which include TCU, OU, Texas A&M, Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, Baylor, Florida, Miami and Michigan.

Also in the top 15 Class of 2022 players in the nation is Arlington Bowie 4-star offensive lineman Devon Campbell at No. 14. He’s the top ranked 2022 guard in the country.

Campbell, the No. 2 ranked player in the state for 2022, holds 19 offers, including from TCU, LSU, OU, Texas and Alabama.

The top ranked Class of 2021 player in the state continues to be Fort Worth All Saints offensive tackle Tommy Brockermeyer.

Brockermeyer is the No. 1 ranked OT in the nation and No. 4 prospect overall.

The 5-star tackle holds 25 offers. He tweeted out his Top 5 in December which included Texas, Alabama, LSU, Clemson and Auburn.
