In his first varsity season, Southlake Carroll starting quarterback Quinn Ewers led the Dragons to the state quarterfinals and a 13-1 record. There was a lot of hype surrounding Ewers during the summer and he lived up to every bit.
Ewers threw for over 4,000 yards and 45 touchdowns and was named MaxPreps National sophomore of the year. He only threw three picks and completed 72% of his passes. He also rushed for 600 yards and 9 TDs.
North Shore’s Demetrius Davis won the honor in 2018. Aledo’s Johnathan Gray won it in 2009.
Ewers held 9 offers before playing a varsity game. He now holds 12 and is projected to commit with Texas according to 247Sports. He also has offers from Ohio State and Alabama.
Nolan Catholic running back Emeka Megwa was named first-team running back after he rushed for over 1,600 yards and 25 touchdowns, helping the Vikings to a district title and playoff victory.
Megwa has 25 offers, most of which from the best programs in the nation.
Aledo defensive back BJ Allen was named second-team defense after helping the Bearcats to their UIL 11-man state record 9th football title. Allen made 122 tackles and picked off 3 passes.
Rockwall QB Braedyn Locke was named second-team offense while Duncanville’s Omari Abor was second-team defense.
