Grapevine Faith, Mansfield Legacy standouts win football players of the week

Nearly 9,000 votes were cast for the latest dfwVarsity football players of the week.

Grapevine Faith junior running back Malik Caper received 2,811 of the votes after his performance vs. Southwest Christian. Caper rushed 19 times for 182 yards and 5 TDs.

Mansfield Legacy senior defensive end Carter Brooks won defensive player of the week after receiving 1,878 of the votes. Against Red Oak, Brooks made 8 tackles, 3 sacks and recovered one fumble.

Joshua senior defensive back Stetson Gunter came in second place with 1,654 votes. He made two interceptions against Cleburne.

Week 10 winners - Jaylen Hearst, Fossil Ridge and Zane Ahlfinger, Oakridge

Week 9 - Brayden Willis, Martin and Ty DeArman, Bowie

Week 8 - Brayden Thomas, Boswell and Matt Girard, Keller Central

Week 7 - Kevin Moore, Granbury and Jacob Felczak, Keller Central

Week 6 - Rodrick Williams, Crowley and O’Brien Neely, Southwest

Week 5 - Michael Franklin, Wyatt and Arnold Saidov, Fossil Ridge
