Fort Worth cancels trash pickup, moves many services online during winter storm

Fort Worth has canceled trash collection through Thursday this week and closed or moved most city services online as a result of the winter storm.

Residents who do not get their trash collected this week will be allowed to place four extra garbage bags by their carts on their pick up day next week. Yard wast collection will resume Feb. 13.

All libraries are closed, but some community and recreation centers are open between noon and 5 p.m. to serve as warming centers. Call before heading to a center to make sure it is open. The centers will not be providing food or transportation.

The Presbyterian Night Shelter’s True Worth location at 1513 East Presidio St. is open from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m..

The city’s development services department, which handles permitting for housing, apartments and businesses, will operate virtually until 8 a.m. Thursday.

Tuesday’s City Council meeting has been canceled.
