A winter storm warning issued for North Texas is in effect until Wednesday morning, with freezing rain already impacting part of the area. Click here for all the latest updates on storm warnings, cancellations and everything you need to know about this week’s storm.
MedStar responded to 49 road incidents between 5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. Monday, including four rollovers, Chief Transformation Officer Matt Zavadsky said.
If you’re plan to hit the road this week, MedStar recommends keeping an emergency kit in your vehicle tailored for the winter weather.
Here’s what to include:
- Ice scraper
- Shovel
- Sand or cat litter for better tire traction
- Water and snacks
- Extra warm clothing
- Jumper cables
- First aid kit with any necessary medicines and a pocketknife
- Battery-powered radio, a flashlight and extra batteries
- Emergency flares or distress flags
- Waterproof matches and a can to melt snow for water
