TCU’s Sonny Dykes wants ‘Landman’ star Billy Bob Thornton to give pregame speech
The popularity of Taylor Sheridan’s “Landman” has reached the TCU football program.
Horned Frogs head football coach Sonny Dykes divulged on the Big 12 network on Wednesday that he has a new good friend in Fort Worth and he is a fan of the Paramount+ series.
“Taylor Sheridan is a Fort Worth guy, went to high school at Paschal High School, basically across the street from TCU’s campus, so it’s been fine watching all of the movie stars and stuff parade through Fort Worth.”
Dykes was on the broadcast as part of the Big 12 conference’s media days in Frisco.
Dykes said he has developed a friendship with actor Billy Bob Thornton, the star of the show. And he’s thought about asking Thornton to give a pregame locker room speech to his team before a game this season.
If Thornton did give a pregame speech, it wouldn’t be his first time. The actor portrayed Permian High School head football coach Gary Gaines in the 2004 film “Friday Night Lights.”
Dykes also said that it’s not true that his home is used as the home for actor Jon Hamm’s character in the show.
“It’s not true,” Dykes said. “But that’s a pretty sharp looking house.”
