Fort Worth Stockyards made latest ‘Landman’ episode. See all the North Texas references
The sixth episode of Taylor Sheridan’s “Landman” aired Sunday, Dec. 15, and contained a few references to Fort Worth.
“Landman” stars Billy Bob Thornton and is described as a “modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs.” The Paramount+ series premiered Nov. 17 and airs new episodes weekly on Sundays.
Since “Landman” was filmed in the Lone Star State and is set in West Texas and Fort Worth, viewers can expect in-house references in the series.
Episode one included mentions of Fort Worth’s Petroleum Club, while episode two referenced TCU and the Hotel Drover. Episode three contains scenes filmed at Fort Worth’s River Crest Country Club, and episode four shot scenes at Sundance Square Plaza.
Here’s a look at all the Texas and Fort Worth references in the sixth episode, “Beware the Second Beating.”
Fort Worth Stockyards
The beginning of the episode starts with a montage of locations across the Fort Worth Stockyards as Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) heads to Cowtown to meet with Monty Miller (Jon Hamm).
Since 1999, the Fort Worth Herd has been droving cattle daily through the Stockyards — leading 17 longhorns down East Exchange Avenue. The Herd drives cattle twice daily at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
In 1936, M.L. Leddy opened his first boots and saddle store in San Angelo. Due to high demand, Leddy opened his Fort Worth Stockyards location in 1941 at 2455 N. Main St.
Cattlemen’s Steak House opened its doors in the Stockyards in 1947. The Star-Telegram reported in 2022 that “Yellowstone” producer 101 Studios invested in the restaurant at 2458 N. Main St.
Aledo property
Around 14 minutes in, Angela (Ali Larter) arrives at her ex-husband’s Aledo home to pick up her car.
The house is actually located in Aledo at 107 Neuces Trail.
The 19,265 square-foot off house has seven bedrooms and 13 bathrooms, according to Zillow. The house is off-market and estimated to cost just over $7 million.
Ezekiel Elliott
Around 28 minutes in, Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) calls Boss (Mustafa Speaks) about Cooper’s (Jacob Lofland) attack.
Boss is seen playing a football video game with his son and says, “Ain’t no way Tampa Bay is gonna stop Zeke on the five yard line.”
Boss is referring to Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel “Zeke” Elliott.
Elliott was drafted fourth overall by the Cowboys in 2016 and played for Dallas from 2016 to 2022. After spending the 2023 season with the New England Patriots, Elliott returned to the Cowboys for the 2024 season.
