Does Cattlemen’s Steak House in Stockyards have new owner with ‘Yellowstone’ ties?

A Fort Worth Stockyards classic may have new ownership with “Yellowstone” ties.

An investment partner with the “Yellowstone” series production companyhas filed for a liquor license at Cattlemen’s Steak House, the famously Western restaurant and saloon-style bar on North Main Street.

Dan Schryer filed the permit Nov. 1 with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission for a mixed beverage permit at 2458 N. Main Street, Cattlemen’s original location since the late 1940s. Schryer was listed as the sole manager of the company.

Schryer was one of several financiers to partner with David Glasser, the CEO of 101 Studios Co., on the launch of the global entertainment studio 101 Studios back in 2019. At the time, the studio obtained more than $300 million to produce six to eight new television series and four to six films per year in the U.S.

Glasser’s business associate also applied for a liquor license at 204 W. Exchange Ave., the location of the former Stockyards cafe Horseshoe Hill. The restaurant known for chicken-fried steak was two blocks from Cattlemen’s. It closed in August 2021 after a disagreement between business partners.

Horseshoe Hill was a film site for Paramount’s “1883,” the “Yellowstone” spin-off in September 2021. The surrounding 200 block of West Exchange Avenue was temporarily closed for filming.

Cattlemen’s Steak House general manager Omar Valles said Monday he was unable to confirm a change in restaurant ownership at this time. Valles said he did not have any information to share about changes or renovations to the restaurant.

Cattlemen’s has been a Stockyards original for more than 75 years, known for its wall murals of the stock cattle industry, variety of beef cuts and air-mail steaks.

Season 5 of “Yellowstone” premiered Sunday on the Paramount Network. This week, producers are expected to be filming in North Texas.
