Rain, lightning could spoil weekend plans in North Texas. Here’s the latest

Heavy rain and isolated flash flooding are possible this weekend in North Texas.

Before storms later in the weekend, conditions will be warm and humid on Friday, July 11, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Temperatures will be in the low to mid-90s, with heat index values in the triple digits.

Heading into Saturday, July 12, there’s chances for scattered storms in areas north (around Graham) and south (around Palestine) of the Metroplex. Dallas-Fort Worth proper will see isolated storm chances Saturday.

Similar conditions are in store on Sunday, July 13, with areas around Cisco and Graham seeing scattered storms, according to the NWS. Isolated storms are in the mix for the rest of the Metroplex.

The severe weather threat is low this weekend, however, some storms could produce lightning, heavy rain, gusty winds and localized flash flooding, per the NWS.

Storms continue into next week

North Texans might want to keep their umbrella with them heading into next week as storm chances linger.

There’s a 20 percentchance of storms for Monday, July 14, according to the NWS. Beyond that, conditions look to be mostly rain-free as of now.

Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s for much of the week, with heat index values hanging around 100 degrees.
