Two people taken to hospital after lightning strikes canopy at Lake Benbrook

Fourteen people were under a canopy that was struck by lightning on Sunday evening at a Lake Benbrook park, according to the Cresson Volunteer Fire Department.

Two people were taken to a hospital as a precaution after the canopy at Mustang Park was struck about 6:30 p.m.

The remaining people were evaluated or treated at the scene, according to the fire department.

In Parker County, one person was severely injured after being struck by lightning about 8:40 p.m. Sunday on Circle Court, about a mile east of Hudson Oaks, according to a report received by the National Weather Service.

Severe thunderstorms on Sunday night dropped hail up to baseball-size in some parts of Tarrant County and North Texas, according to the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth.

Additional storm chances are in the forecast for Dallas-Fort Worth every day this week except for Monday, according to the weather service. On Tuesday, June 3, strong to severe scattered storms are expected to develop in the afternoon. The main threats will be large hail, damaging winds and a low risk of tornadoes in the evening.
