Suspect arrested in Fort Worth shooting that killed 21-year-old, wounded two
An 18-year-old suspect was arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting that killed a 21-year-old man and injured two other people in east Fort Worth over Memorial Day weekend.
Ricardo Young was booked into the Fort Worth City Jail and faces charges of murder and aggravated assault, according to police records.
Officers were called to the 4200 block of Carmel Avenue on May 25 about 3:15 p.m. regarding the shooting. They found one of the victims with a gunshot wound, police said.
Alvion Ferrell Norris was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he died from multiple gunshot wounds shortly after 4 p.m., according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s website. His death has been ruled a homicide.
The investigation found that Norris and two other people were sitting in a parked car on Carmel Avenue when the suspect approached. He talked with the three victims for a short time and then pulled out a gun and fired into the car, police said.
Norris got out and tried to run away, but collapsed near the vehicle. The other two people were injured, but managed to drive themselves to a hospital. Their condition was unknown, according to police.
The suspect walked away from the area after the shooting, police said. The Homicide Unit has been leading the investigation.
