August is the hottest month of the year in Fort Worth, which means a cold treat is like water in the desert.

As the heat continues, the Star-Telegram is looking for the best ice cream in the Fort Worth area and we want your help. Nominate your favorite spot for a dip, a cone or an ice cream sandwich, and then vote on the winner.

Any ice cream shop in the Metroplex is eligible for the ranking, besides Curly’s Frozen Custard. The Fort Worth shop won our best hot dog poll in June, so we’re giving other ice cream eateries a fair shot at taking the frozen crown.

Similarly to that best hot dog poll and our best queso poll in July, this initial survey asks you to write in your favorite spots for ice cream.

Here’s how it works.
