At least one in three people killed by Dallas-Fort Worth police since 2014 were experiencing a mental health crisis. Other cities send trained civilians instead of police to mental health calls.

Mental health-related police killings

Police in the 11 counties that encompass Dallas-Fort Worth have killed more than 145 people since 2014. Of those deaths, at least 54 were related to a mental illness. Another 25 were possibly related to mental health.
