Fort Worth ISD school closures

Officials in the Fort Worth Independent School District say that closing and consolidating more than a dozen campuses will save the district millions of dollars over the next four years, allowing them to redirect more money toward academic priorities.

Officials in the Fort Worth Independent School District are proposing the closure of 18 campuses following years of declining enrollment.

The Fort Worth ISD school board is scheduled to vote on the plan at its May 20 meeting. Take a look at which schools are slated for closure. (Got a fond memory from one of these schools? Tell us about it here.)

Eastern Hills Elementary also is on the closure list, but it will reopen after a new campus is constructed, according to the Facilities Master Plan. Eastern Hills students will attend West Handley Elementary during the transition. West Handley will close in June 2028 and its students will be consolidate at the new Eastern Hills campus in the 2028-29 school year, the plan states.
