Taylor Sheridan’s North Texas-filmed ‘The Madison’ to premiere this spring

Taylor Sheridan’s new “Yellowstone” spinoff “The Madison” will premiere this spring.

Paramount+ announced Friday that the Michelle Pfeiffer-led series will release March 14 on its service. The show is described as a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family (the Clyburns) in the Madison River valley of central Montana.”

The first season of “The Madison” will consist of six episodes, which is the smallest order of a Sheridan-created show thus far. Normally, his shows run for eight (”Lioness,” “1923”) or 10 episodes (”Landman,” “Yellowstone”).

In addition to Pfeiffer, “The Madison” stars Kurt Russell, Patrick J. Adams, Matthew Fox, Elle Chapman, Beau Garrett, Amiah Miller, Alaina Pollack, Ben Schnetzer, Rebecca Spence, Danielle Vasinova and Kevin Zegers.

Here’s what to know about the show.

‘The Madison’ season 1, and maybe season 2?

Unlike most Sheridan-run shows, “The Madison” filmed two seasons before releasing an episode.

Production on its first season ran from August to December 2024, first starting in Montana and ending in North Texas before the holidays. A similar production timeline occurred on season 2, which filmed from September to December 2025 under the same location setting.

What was filmed last year is envisioned as the show’s second season, however, Deadline Hollywood reported Friday that there’s a small possibility that this footage will release as part two of season 1.

In August 2025, 101 Studios CEO David Glasser told the Star-Telegram that production on “The Madison” season 2 was due to begin that fall. Things could have certainly changed since then, although Paramount hasn’t officially said anything on what the plan for season 2 is.

As of now, the only thing for sure is that “The Madison” will release six episodes weekly this spring.

‘The Madison’ turns North Texas into New York City

“The Madison” primarily films in Montana for Montana, but for New York City, it heads to Texas.

Both times the show has filmed in the Metroplex (Dallas, Denton, Fort Worth), the production has repainted the Texas landscape to appear as The Big Apple. New York City Police Department-branded vehicles were spotted on the streets of Dallas, and extras were needed in Fort Worth for a scene at New York City’s Museum of Modern Art.

It’s unclear if “The Madison” shoots any Texas-set footage while in the area or if it’s solely NYC-based.

‘The Madison’ and ‘Yellowstone’ connection

When “The Madison” was first announced, it carried the designator of being of a “Yellowstone” spinoff.

Since then, Paramount has kept mum on just how both shows connect to each other and if any “Yellowstone” characters will show up in “The Madison.”

Does the Clyburn family know the Duttons? Is there a Dutton that’s actually a secret Clyburn? It’s anyone’s guess.

A quick perusal of the main cast’s filmography does not show that anyone is reprising a role that originated on “Yellowstone.” Tanc Sade and Danielle Vasinova both appeared in the “Yellowstone” prequel “1923,” but their character names are different in “The Madison.”

It remains to be seen how “Yellowstone” and “The Madison” are connected. Viewers will likely get some idea beginning March 14.
