Koe Wetzel to perform at Tarleton State’s new $120 million arena

Country star Koe Wetzel is returning to his old college stomping grounds this fall.

The “High Road” singer will be the grand opening concert at Tarleton State University’s EECU (formerly known as the Educational Employees Credit Union Center) on Sept. 13. The two-story, $120 million arena is slated to open on Aug. 21.

Tickets for Wetzel’s show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday via Tarleton’s website.

Wetzel, 33, grew up in Pittsburg, Texas, and went to Tarleton to play football.

At the Stephenville university, Wetzel was a linebacker for the purple and white. His player profile is still viewable on Tarleton’s athletics website.

Wetzel has been honest about his time at Tarleton, likening it to the antics of the college comedy series “Blue Mountain State.”

“Everybody always says that the drinking team has a rodeo problem, and that goes with the football team as well,” Wetzel said last year on the God’s Country podcast.

Wetzel dropped out of Tarleton during his sophomore year to pursue music.
