FIFA World Cup will close roads in North Texas this summer. Here’s what to know
Millions of people are expected to descend upon North Texas for the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer.
Arlington’s AT&T Stadium (which will be rebranded as Dallas Stadium during the tournament) will host nine matches — five in the group stage, which begins on June 14, and four in the knockout round, including a semifinal on July 14. In addition, Sweden and the Czech Republic will have base camps in Frisco and Mansfield, respectively.
There will be several road closures across Dallas, Arlington and Fort Worth during the event, according to the North Texas FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee.
Here’s a look at what to expect.
North Texas road closures for FIFA World Cup
Arlington
The following closures around Dallas Stadium will be in effect on match days:
- AT&T Way between Cowboys Way and Randol Mill Road
- Cowboys Way between North Collins Street and AT&T Way
- A portion of Nolan Ryan Expressway from East Road to Six Flags Street to the south entrance of Courtyard Dallas Arlington/Entertainment District Hotel.
Dallas
The following closure will be in place from May 26 to July 23:
- Griffin Street between Canton Street and Ceremonial Drive.
Fort Worth
The following closure is around Trinity Railway Express’ CentrePort Station and will be in effect on match days:
- A portion of Statler Boulevard between Breezewood Drive and Cottageview Lane.
Sundance Square
Sundance Square in downtown Fort Worth will broadcast all 104 matches during its “Summer of Soccer” celebration.
There will also be watch parties and related programming hosted in and around the plaza. Sundance is working with the city and Fort Worth Police Department to create a pedestrian-focused safety zone that gives fans a safe and walkable environment.
The following street closures will be in effect from 8 a.m. June 10 to July 20:
- Third Street between Houston and Commerce streets
- Fourth Street between Houston and Commerce streets
- Main Street between Second and Fifth streets
