Several days of storms are in the mix for North Texas. Here’s when they’ll hit
After a few days of dry and sunny weather, storms are back in the forecast for North Texas.
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are in the mix on Tuesday, June 2, for the afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Central and East Texas have better coverage and chances for storms.
Lightning, downburst winds and heavy rainfall will all be possible. Downbursts are winds that descend from a thunderstorm and spread out once they hit the ground, according to the NWS.
In Dallas-Fort Worth, storms are expected to arrive after 4 p.m. Beyond the activity, temperatures will be warm as heat index values flirt near 100 degrees.
Storm chances increase as week progresses
Rain and storm chances will persist later this week and into the weekend.
Wednesday, June 3, will be mostly dry with slightly higher rain chances returning on Thursday, June 4, according to the NWS. The best chances for storms will be late Friday, June 5, into Saturday, June 6.
The severe weather threat will be low, however, heavy rainfall could cause flooding in some areas. Here’s a look at the forecast:
- Tuesday, June 2- 95 degrees, 30% chance of storms during the day and overnight
- Wednesday, June 3- 90 degrees
- Thursday, June 4- 88 degrees, 30% chance of storms during the day and 20% overnight
- Friday, June 5- 89 degrees, 30% chance of storms during the day and 40% overnight
- Saturday, June 6- 88 degrees, 60% chance of storms during the day and overnight
- Sunday, June 7- 89 degrees, 40% chance of storms during the day and 50% overnight
- Monday, June 8- 91 degrees, 20% chance of storms during the day
