North Texas airports expect a busy week as parts of the United States prepare for an Arctic blast this week.
Over four thousand flights were canceled Thursday and over two thousand were canceled for Friday across the country, according to flight tracking site FlightAware.
While icy conditions are not expected to impact Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport or Dallas Love Field Airport, a powerful winter storm is forecast to cause widespread disruptive and potentially crippling impacts across the central and eastern United States, according to the National Weather Service.
DFW Airport announced that it is monitoring the weather and alerted customers that shuttles will spend extra time at each stop so people can choose to wait inside to avoid cold temperatures.
Both DFW and Dallas Love Field advise customers to check with their airlines for the latest updates, such as delays or flight cancellations.
