North Texas family competing for $50,000 on ‘The Great Christmas Light Fight’
Texas is shining bright on “The Great Christmas Light Fight” this season.
The festive competition series sees families competing against one another for a $50,000 prize and the coveted “Light Fight” trophy. The ABC show opened its 13th season with a two-episode premiere on Dec. 4, and will air subsequent double episodes on Dec. 11 and 18.
Three Texas light displays are featured on this season. Here’s what to know.
Irvin family, San Angelo
In the show’s second episode “Santa’s Making His List,” the Irvin family from San Angelo showed of their light display, which contained many handmade pieces.
The family created decorations out of chicken wire, fencing materials and even rebar. Tons of snowmen, Christmas trees and rows of lights could be seen in the episode.
Ultimately, the Irvins did not win the episode.
River of Lights, Houston
Club Westside’s River of Lights display will be seen in the Dec. 18 episode “You Decked My Battleship.”
The fitness club transforms its lazy river into a winter wonderland full of Christmas lights and decorations. The festive boat ride is open to the club’s members and guests of members.
Loder family, Plano
Viewers will get to see the Loder family of Plano’s display on the Dec. 18 episode “It’s Gonna be Elftastic.”
The Loders are residents of the Deerfield neighborhood, which is known for its annual Christmas light displays. The neighborhood is open to the public during the week and on weekends for much of December.
