‘Landman’ is heading back to Fort Worth. Paramount+ series renewed for season 3
Taylor Sheridan’s “Landman” has been renewed for a third season.
Paramount announced Friday that the Fort Worth-filmed series is coming back for a third go-around. This comes as the show is in the midst of airing its second season, with new episodes releasing on Paramount+ every Sunday until mid-January.
The renewal is not surprising as the show has been a hit for Paramount, collecting more than 9 million streaming views in its first two days on the service for the season 2 premiere.
Furthermore, Paramount said the show is set to be a top three series among all original content for the week of Nov. 17 and a top two series for the week of Nov. 24. This comes from preliminary data from Nielsen, according to Paramount.
Fort Worth and ‘Landman’
The new season renewal also puts Fort Worth in a good position, as the show primarily films in and around the area.
Production on season 2 took place over the spring and summer months in downtown, at TCU and the Stockyards. Several locales have already been seen in the three episodes out now, including Frost Tower, JD’s Hamburgers, Cattleman’s Steak House and the Bowie House hotel.
At a Fort Worth premiere in early November, the “Landman” cast told the Star-Telegram about their favorite local restaurants and sites. Andy Garcia also shared a few more in a recent interview with us.
The show is also a huge job creator for the Fort Worth economy.
For season 2 alone, 1,092 people were hired as crew along with 192 cast members and more than 2,500 extras. In total, 3,856 people were hired to work on the season, 101 Studios CEO David Glasser told the Star-Telegram in August.
With seven episodes left in the season, more of Fort Worth is expected to be seen in the show over the coming weeks.
More on ‘Landman’
“Landman” is described as a “modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of West Texas oil rigs.”
“In season 2, as oil rises from the earth, so do secrets – and Tommy Norris’s (Billy Bob Thornton) breaking point may be closer than he realizes. Facing mounting pressure from M-Tex Oil, Cami Miller (Demi Moore), and the shadow of his kin, survival in West Texas isn’t noble – it’s brutal. And sooner or later something’s got to break,” the show’s second season synopsis reads.
The Thornton-led series premiered on Paramount+ in November 2024 and wrapped its 10-episode first season on Jan. 12. The drama is co-created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, who created the “Boomtown” Texas Monthly podcast that the show is based on.
“Landman” season 2 stars Thornton, Moore, Andy Garcia, Sam Elliott, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Colm Feore and Mark Collie. Jon Hamm, Michael Peña and Jerry Jones all appeared in guest roles in season 1.
“Landman” airs Sundays on Paramount+
