‘Duck Dynasty’ stars return to TV in new show filmed at North Texas ranch
Two “Duck Dynasty” stars are leaving the Louisiana bayou for the plains of Texas.
Great American Media recently announced that Jep and Jessica Robertson will lead a new unscripted lifestyle series called “Jep & Jess: Beyond the Bayou.” The new show will stream on Great American Pure Flix in early 2026, followed by airings on Great American Family and GFam+ later that year.
The series sees the Robertsons trade Louisiana for Texas as they develop a property at the Comanche Moon Ranch in Mingus, which is about 70 miles west of Fort Worth.
Viewers will see the Robertsons build their new ranch and live like Texans, along with juggling parenting and grandparenting their big family.
“Our kids are super excited about it,” Jessica told the Star-Telegram in mid-December. “Our boys have been out several times to hunt and fish out there.”
Lone Star Living
The Robertsons are no stranger to Texas, having lived near Austin for about five years after “Duck Dynasty” and “Jep & Jessica: Growing the Dynasty” concluded.
When their two eldest children went to college at Abilene Christian University, Jessica and Jep moved back to Louisiana to be closer to family. However, they still frequently visited Abilene.
Through that back and forth, the Robertsons said they met Lance Autrey, who runs Legends Texas, which owns the Canyon Moon Ranch development.
Once they visited the property and realized all it had to offer, from hunting and fishing, to its proximity to the forthcoming Palo Pinto State Park, they knew it was the “perfect place.”
“This is just such an opportunity for us to expand our horizons and have our own little ranchette,” Jessica said. “It’s 10-and-a-half acres, but we’re part of a community of ranches.”
Crafting ‘Beyond the Bayou’
When it came to making a show based around the Robertson’s new property, they turned to a friend.
Jessica said they’ve known Marc Pierce at Warm Springs Productions for a couple of years now after working on “Duck Family Treasure,” a Fox Nation show that starred Jep and a few Robertson family members.
After hearing about the property and what the Robertson’s planned to do with it, Pierce was in, and soon the creative team found a partner in Great American Media.
“We felt like God opened this door for us,” Jessica said.
Great American Media is known for its faith and family-focused content that spans films and television.
The company was founded in Fort Worth in 2021 and moved its headquarters from Cowtown to Arlington last year. Great American Media is now located at 2221 E. Lamar Blvd.
In addition to “Beyond the Bayou,” the Robertsons already collaborated with the company on the 2025 film “Have We Met This Christmas.”
Jep and Jessica pop up in a cameo role, which they say was an “amazing” experience. Everyone on set was sweet to the couple, including the film’s director John Morrison Newman, who led a prayer while they were there.
“We’ve done a lot of TV stuff, and I’ve just never been around people who do that and also put God first,” Jep said. “It’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is where we need to be’.”
New Show, Same Robertsons
As Jep and Jessica look forward to the new show, they’re hoping viewers feel a bevy of emotions.
First and foremost, Jep said it’s important that the family’s faith comes across. There will also be plenty of funny moments as the family navigates ranch life and all that comes with that, including fixing things themselves.
Jessica said there’s also a creative element to the show as the family decides on how to build and develop the property. Think HGTV with the same Robertson flair the family is known for.
“We want something that feels right and blends in to where you feel like you’re a part of Texas,” Jessica said.
“Jep and Jess: Beyond the Bayou” premieres in early 2026.
