Bonds Ranch Road in far north Fort Worth is notoriously frustrating for its traffic congestion, roundabouts and train crossings.

Once a rural farm road, Bonds Ranch today is surrounded by thousands of new homes. When a new Kroger opens near U.S. 287, followed by more nearby commercial development next year, congestion around U.S. 287 will only get worse.

But there are plans to make significant changes to Bonds Ranch Road. On Monday, Oct. 6, agencies involved in the plans will explain what’s coming and answer your questions about the Bonds Ranch corridor, from Boat Club Road to U.S. 287.

The meeting is 6-7:30 p.m. at Eagle Mountain High School, 3451 Bonds Ranch Road. Speakers will include city transportation and public works officials, the Texas Department of Transportation and others involved in ”delivering improvements to this busy section of Fort Worth.”

What’s being built on Bonds Ranch Road?

A Kroger Marketplace is expected to open his fall right along U.S. 287; it will be the first Kroger with an artisanal locally owned coffee shop from North Texas.

Just east of Kroger, developers are building 100,000 square feet of retail shops including Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, Great Clips, a nail salon, 7-Eleven and a Panda Express. The 40-acre site will include an early childhood learning center for about 400 students, opening in fall 2026.

Two of the biggest new developments are on the western edge of the corridor. The Rio Claro development will bring 1,914 homes southeast of the intersection of Bonds Ranch Road and Morris Dido Newark Road.

Across the street from Rio Claro, Dallas-based Centurion American Development Group plans to build 1,100 homes across 836 acres.

On the east end of Bonds Ranch Road, Inspire homes plans 196 single family homes just west of the Harmon Road roundabout.

There are plans to widen sections of Bonds Ranch Road as well as build a bridge over the train tracks. On the horizon is a major project to rebuild overpasses and interchanges on U.S. 287 and extend service roads.
