Country singer Ella Langley just released a new song that she co-wrote with a Texas country music icon.
The “you look like you love me” singer’s new song “Choosin’ Texas” dropped Friday, Oct. 17 on streaming platforms. She debuted a live version of the song on Oct. 9 at the Choctaw Music Fest in Durant, Okla.
Langley co-wrote the song with Texas country icon Miranda Lambert while on a writers’ retreat. She described writing the song to the Oklahoma crowd like this, according to Whiskey Riff:
“You know, Miranda’s from Texas. She said she did something crazy or silly or who knows what Miranda did. She’s like, ‘Of course, I have Texas plates on the back of my vehicle.’ And I said, ‘Well, I’m sure he was like, ‘She’s from Texas, I can tell.’ And us being songwriters, I think it just hit us like a bag of bricks…”
The song is a sad love song about losing someone to a former Texas flame: “She’s from Texas, I can tell by the way/He’s two-stepping ‘round the room,” the first lines of the chorus go.

Fans will be able to see Langley in town (and maybe another live performance of “Choosin’ Texas”) this Saturday, Oct. 18 at Billy Bob’s Texas on her “still hungover” tour. Tickets are currently sold out both on the Billy Bob’s website and on the Billy Bob’s fan exchange ticket site on AXS, but you might get lucky over on StubHub, where the cheapest option is around $200 a ticket.
