Fiery crash early Sunday kills two people in Hurst, police say
Two people were killed after a fiery crash in Hurst early Sunday, police said.
Hurst police officers responded to the crash about 3:45 a.m. in the 200 block of northbound Loop 820, police said in a statement.
Police said 911-callers reported that a vehicle crashed into the embankment causing it to burst into flames. When officers arrived, they found the vehicle on the inside shoulder.
After the fire was put out, officers found two people dead inside the vehicle, police said.
Police said the vehicle’s license plate was destroyed due to the heat and the vehicle identification number was not accessible.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
The people who died will be identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office after next of kin have been notified.
Multiple deadly crashes early Sunday
This was one of three deadly crashes on the Tarrant County freeway early Sunday. In a crash about 2 a.m. one person inspecting his car for minor damages on Interstate 35 west in Fort Worth was fatally struck by a vehicle.
In another wrong-way crash on Texas 121 in Fort Worth about 4:30 a.m. a driver died on the scene and another driver was hospitalized.
