5 arrested after luring teens into Arlington park attack, police say
Five suspects face charges after allegedly luring two teens to an Arlington park Wednesday night in order to attack them, police said.
Officers responded to a disturbance at Brantley Hinshaw Park, located at 2121 Overbrook Drive, about 11:10 p.m. They found two teenage boys who said they’d been chased by several armed men wearing ski masks.
The teens told officers they’d gone to the park to meet a girl they’d been talking to on an app, police said. A short time later the masked men arrived. The boys realized the suspects were armed and tried to run away.
One of the teens used his pocket knife to defend himself when the armed men came after him and his friend. Police said he stabbed two of the attackers.
One of the injured suspects, 17-year-old Giovanni Holloway, showed up at a local hospital for treatment. He was accompanied by several other individuals who allegedly participated in the incident, according to police.
Holloway admitted to officers he’d gone to the park to fight the two teens, police said. He used a female friend as a decoy to get the boys there. The 17-year-old suspect was arrested after being medically cleared by doctors.
Officers also arrested 19-year-old Maverick Holloway, 17-year-old Jeremiah Martinez and 17-year-old Johnathan Antoine in connection with the incident. All four of them were booked into the Tarrant County Jail on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge, but court records show they’ve since bonded out.
A fifth individual, Mister Walker, arrived at another hospital with a stab wound. The story he told investigators changed multiple times, according to police, and he also matched the description of one of the attackers at the park.
Officers found several guns and a ski mask in Walker’s car, police said. The 24-year-old was arrested and will be booked on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon once he’s cleared medically.
The two teens who were targeted at the park aren’t currently facing any criminal charges, according to police.
