18-year-old man killed in hit-and-run crash on I-35 in Fort Worth, police say

An 18-year-old man who was inspecting his car after a minor crash was fatally struck by a vehicle early Sunday on Interstate 35W in Fort Worth, police said.

Angel Ruiz died due to blunt force injuries, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Fort Worth police officers responded to the crash on southbound I-35W near East Ripy Street shortly before 2 a.m., police said in a statement.

Officers determined that Ruiz got out of his vehicle after a minor crash and was checking the damage when he was struck by another vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police said the suspect vehicle fled the scene but was found at a different location. No arrests have been announced in connection to the fatal crash.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
