‘The Chosen’ heads back to Texas after wrapping season 7 filming in Utah

“The Chosen” is heading back to Texas after wrapping season 7 filming in Utah.

The Biblical drama, based on the life of Jesus, has primarily filmed at Camp Hoblitzelle in Midlothian since season 3. In April, “The Chosen” announced a Nov. 15 premiere for its sixth season, which follows the Crucifixion, on Prime Video.

Season 7 is the show’s final entry and will follow the Resurrection of Jesus.

Production on season 7 began in North Texas in late April, and moved to Utah for a few weeks in June.

Now, the show has wrapped filming in Utah and will head back to the Lone Star State to film the remainder of season 7. Here’s what to know.

‘The Chosen’ heads back to Texas

“The Chosen” wrapped filming in Utah last week, according to social media posts from several cast members.

“Started shooting in Utah 6 years ago for season 2 of ‘The Chosen.’ Yesterday was my last day in Utah for season 7, our final season. So many wonderful memories here - and they happened in the blink of an eye. We still have a lot to shoot back in TX but it’s sad to say goodbye to this place,” actor Jordan Walker Ross, who plays Little James and is from Arlington, wrote on Instagram.

El Paso native Abe Bueno-Jallad, who plays Big James, said filming in Utah was a huge deal for him.

“Thank you Utah and goodbye. The last 6 years of filming this show over the incredible landscapes has impacted my life in ways only my eyes will be able to tell,” Bueno-Jallad wrote.

Noah James, who plays Andrew, said working in Utah will stick with him for life.

“Will always remember the last day in Utah. At the very end, cast and crew all together as the wind finally stopped and we got the final few takes, nearing the end of the whole show. Love everyone involved, and so grateful,” he wrote.
