‘The Chosen’ wraps filming season 6 in North Texas. Here’s when it comes out
“The Chosen” has wrapped filming on season 6 in North Texas, according to the show’s production.
The Biblical drama, based on the life of Jesus, has primarily filmed at Camp Hoblitzelle in Midlothian since season 3. The show held its season 5 world premiere in Red Oak this spring, ahead of its three-part theatrical release over consecutive weekends just a couple weeks later.
Production on season 6 began in mid-April and wrapped this week, according to a post on the show’s Instagram page.
“Season 6 is a wrap, and we’re already reminiscing. These photos from Seasons 1-6 have us feeling nostalgic,” the post reads.
What is ‘The Chosen’ season 6 about?
“The Chosen” is described as “a historical drama based on the life of Jesus and those who knew him.”
Last season followed Holy Week and the Last Supper, while season 6 will cover the Crucifixion. The new season is expected to cover the 24 hours of Jesus’ life before he his nailed to the cross.
When will ‘The Chosen’ season 6 release?
The season 6 finale will release in theaters on March 12, 2027.
5&2 Studios, who makes the show, has not revealed the release date for the rest of the season or how many episodes will be in season 6. All of the previous seasons of the show have had eight episodes.
“The Chosen” will return for a seventh season and it’s premiere episode will also have a theatrical release just over a year later on March 31, 2028. Again, it’s unclear when the rest of season 7 will release and how many episodes are in it.
While fans wait for new episodes, they can stream the first five seasons of the show on Prime Video.
