Tom Cruise is making it his mission to visit North Texas moviegoers this week.
The 62-year-old actor will stop by Dallas on Thursday, May 22, as part of his global press tour for “Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning.” Cruise has traveled the globe this month promoting the film, which hits theaters this weekend.
Cruise’s first stop in Texas on Thursday will be at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, followed by a trip to Dallas, where the actor said he’s looking forward to eating some “delicious barbecue.” He is then planning to stop by Dallas movie theaters to say hello to fans checking out the film on opening night.
While it’s unknown where Cruise will visit in Dallas, there are a few indicators of where he might show up. Here’s what to know.
What movie theaters will Tom Cruise visit in D-FW?
“Final Reckoning” was filmed with IMAX cameras and Cruise is a proponent of the large cinematic format.
There are only two Dallas theaters with IMAX offerings — AMC NorthPark 15 and Cinemark Dallas XD and IMAX. Both theaters are showing the film in IMAX on Thursday, according to each theater’s website.
A stop at AMC NorthPark 15 seems likely, given that the New York premiere on May 18 was held at the AMC Lincoln Square 13. However, this is just speculation and nothing has been confirmed.
If Cruise is stopping by NorthPark, there are a few barbecue restaurants around, including Back Country BBQ, Oak’d BBQ and One90 Smoked Meats. If Cruise visits Cinemark Dallas, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, Marshall’s Bar-B-Q and Barrel & Bones Craft Bar and Smokehouse are in the area.
