Tom Cruise is coming to North Texas for barbecue. Here’s where he should go

Tom Cruise is planning to visit North Texas later this month to promote “Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning” and said he is looking forward to eating some “delicious barbecue.”

The 60-year-old action star announced travel plans to the Lone Star State this week as part of his global press tour for “Final Reckoning,” which releases on May 23. His first Texas stop on May 22 will be at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, followed by a visit to Dallas.

Cruise plans to visit Dallas movie theaters and surprise fans watching the new film. He also mentioned wanting to eat barbecue while in the Metroplex.

Well, Tom Cruise, your mission, should you choose to accept it: Try some of these local D-FW barbecue restaurants.

Goldee’s BBQ

  • Open: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday-Sunday
  • Location: 4645 Dick Price Road, Fort Worth

At the top of Cruise’s list should be Goldee’s BBQ, which was named the top barbecue joint in the state by Texas Monthly in 2021.

Located just south of Fort Worth, Goldee’s is known for its brisket, beef ribs and smoked turkey breast. Cruise should also try the smoked Lao sausage and mango sticky rice dessert.

Goldee’s was awarded the “Bib Gourmand” from the Michelin Guide for restaurant value last year.

Panther City BBQ

  • Open: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday
  • Location: 201 E. Hattie St., Fort Worth

Panther City BBQ is a Fort Worth favorite that has gotten national recognition.

The eatery is “Michelin Recommended” on the world-famous Michelin Guide, which lists the top restaurants in the nation and abroad. Cruise should try the brisket elote cup or flacos tacos.

Smoke’N Ash BBQ

  • Open: Noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday
  • Location: 5904 South Cooper St. suite 110, Arlington

Another “Michelin Recommend” restaurant for Cruise to try is Smoke’N Ash BBQ.

The Ethiopian- and Texas-style barbecue restaurant serves up a fusion of flavor. Cruise should get the Tex-Ethopian awaze barbecue plate, which is smoked Texas barbecue in an Ethiopian awaze spice glaze.

The Original Roy Hutchins BBQ

  • Open: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Sunday
  • Location: 3000 Texas State Highway 114, Trophy Club

If Cruise ventures northwest of Dallas, The Original Roy Hutchins BBQ is awaiting in Trophy Club.

The Texas twinkie, a bacon-wrapped jalapeno stuffed with cream cheese and brisket, is a fan-favorite along with the jalapeno cheddar sausage. Cruise would be the second celebrity to stop by this month after “Shameless” star Emmy Rossum was spotted at the restaurant.

Hurtado Barbecue

  • Open: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily
  • Location: 900 S. Harwood St., Dallas

If Cruise is looking for something in Dallas, Hurtado Barbecue opened a location in the city earlier this year.

Hurtado is known for its “Mexicue,” whether that be birria tacos with brisket or a brisket tostada. Cruise only needs to add a side of Mexican street corn and hatch chile mac and cheese.
