It’s official, Fort Worth: Sam Elliott is going to be in ‘Landman’ season 2
After starring in “1883,” Sam Elliott is returning to the Taylor Sheridan universe.
The 80-year-old actor has been cast in “Landman” season 2 as the Paramount+ series continues to film in and around Fort Worth. Series star Billy Bob Thornton previously mentioned that Elliott was in the show and Paramount officially confirmed his casting this week.
While it’s unknown who Elliott is playing, he will be a series regular on the show, which means that he will be around for most of the season.
Sam Elliott reunites with Taylor Sheridan
“Landman” will be Elliott’s second project with Sheridan after “1883.”
Elliott played Civil War veteran Shea Brennan in the “Yellowstone” prequel series that aired 10 episodes from December 2021 to February 2022. He was a series regular and appeared in every episode of the one season show.
The role proved to be a popular one for Elliott, who won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series at the 2023 ceremony.
“To my incredible castmates, there’s a piece of this for all of you,” Elliott said in his acceptance speech. “Not only for who you are, but for your beautiful work that helped me find the way.”
Ahead of the official ”Landman” casting announcement, Elliott was seen hanging out with Thornton earlier this week.
The pair were seen at Rickhouse Brewing in Mineral Wells, about 51 miles west of Fort Worth. Former state representative Glenn Rogers shared a photo of him meeting the duo on April 28.
“Just a typical Monday night in Mineral Wells,” Rogers wrote. “Enjoyed meeting Sam and Billy Bob.”
