‘Landman’ will film funeral scenes in this small North Texas town this week

Taylor Sheridan’s “Landman” will travel to a small North Texas town next week to shoot funeral scenes for season 2.

“Landman” kicked off production in Fort Worth on TCU’s campus in late March. The series also spent time filming in downtown, the Cultural District and west Fort Worth near JD’s Hamburgers.

On Monday, April 28, the series will head to Jacksboro, about 60 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

The production will film scenes involving a funeral and is looking to cast extras as elderly men and women, according to a recent casting notice from Texas-based Legacy Casting. Apply for those roles, here.

Previously, “Landman” filmed season 1 scenes at Jacksboro’s Faith Community Hospital, which doubled as a hospital in Midland.

Which character in ‘Landman’ is being laid to rest?

Editor’s note: Spoilers for season 1 of “Landman” follow.

The casting notice does not detail who is being buried in the funeral scenes, but there is one possibility.

In episode 8 of season 1, oil tycoon Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) suffers a heart attack and is seen recovering in the hospital. Monty takes a turn for the worse in episode 9 and dies in the hospital surrounded by family members just one episode later, in the season finale.

Monty’s death is expected to have major implications in the show, as he was a key character and head of the M-TEX Oil Company that employed Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton).

While it’s unclear if “Landman” season 2 will show Monty laid to rest, Thornton previously said that Demi Moore’s character Cami Miller (Monty’s wife) will have an expanded role this go-around.
