Post Malone worked at Chicken Express in North Texas before fame. See the photos
Before garnering 18 Grammy nominations and billions of streams, Post Malone served fried chicken and biscuits in North Texas.
The 29-year-old rapper-turned-country music singer was born in New York, but moved to Grapevine at 9 years old. The Post family relocated to North Texas after Malone’s father, Rich Post, took a job managing concessions for the Dallas Cowboys.
While growing up in the Metroplex, Malone worked at regional fried food favorite: Chicken Express. Malone told Rolling Stone in 2017 that he saved up $800 while working at the fast food chain and bought a pair of Versace loafers.
“I was weird,” Malone told the publication.
Recently, photos of Malone working at Chicken Express have surfaced online.
In the photos, posted by The Grapevine Edit on Facebook, Malone is seen handing a drink to a customer and posing with fellow employees. Malone worked at a Chicken Express in Southlake at 2120 E. State Highway 114.
The restaurant is still open for business. See the photos below.
In 2019, Malone’s old workplace was the site for a giveaway for his latest collaboration with Crocs.
“The Posty Special” was on the menu that day and came with a $6 box of chicken, fries and free pair of Crocs, according to CBS Dallas-Fort Worth. The special knocked the price down significantly on the shoes that retailed for $59.99.
At the time, this was Malone’s fourth collaboration with Crocs. Malone collaborated one more time with the company in 2020. However, that has been it since then.
Malone returns to the Metroplex every now and then.
Last year, he was spotted with Jelly Roll at Koe Wetzel’s Riot Room in Fort Worth while in town for the Academy of Country Music Awards. Malone’s next concert in the area is May 9 at AT&T Stadium, with special guests Jelly Roll and Sierra Ferrell.
