Is the ‘Landman’ bikini coffee shop real? In Fort Worth, yes — and it’s part of a trend
Taylor Sheridan’s “Landman” was filmed in Fort Worth with plenty of Cowtown cameos. The Paramount+ series features lead actor Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a landman.
TCU’s campus, Hotel Drover and River Crest Country Club are a few Fort Worth venues featured in the drama series. However, there is one fictional restaurant shown during two episodes of season 1 that wasn’t filmed on location in Fort Worth, but is very similar to a real Fort Worth business. many residents know about, “Babes N’ Brew.”
In “Landman,” Babes N’ Brew is a bright pink coffee kiosk featuring blonde bombshell servers dressed in pink bikinis and Daisy Dukes. In the show, they serve Tommy’s son Cooper (Jacob Lofland) his morning latte before a long day in the oil field.
Though the scene was filmed at a temporary set in Benbrook, there is an actual pink “bikini coffee” shack in far west Fort Worth off of Camp Bowie Boulevard, located at 3425 Cimmaron Trail. This local coffee kiosk is called Can’t Resist Coffee.
Is bikini coffee legal?
Baristas at these bikini coffee shops are wearing bikinis and sometimes even lingerie. According to Texas law, this is legal. It would be against the law if baristas are revealing any part of their genitalia with intent to sexually arouse one against their consent, according to Texas Penal Code 28.1.
This business idea is not new.
“Double Cup Coffee” used to be in League City at 241 S. Egret Bay Blvd. They opened in May 2018 and closed five months later. Owner Trevor Lohr said he got the concept from coffee shops around Washington state.
“We just wanted to bring some fresh, new ideas to the coffee scene,” Lohr told NBC5 in an interview.
Can’t Resist Coffee has been open since July 2024, according to Texas State Health Inspection records. Owner Ocean Kaye has also opened up a west coast location, Vanilla and Honey Espresso, in Spokane, Wash., and another kiosk in Idaho.
Boomtown Babes Espresso is another hot pink Texas bikini coffee kiosk located in Odessa. Fans speculate that Sheridan got inspiration from this location, sinceit is located in West Texas, where “Landman” is set.
You can catch up with the 10 episodes of “Landman” season 1 on Paramount+.
Drive-thru coffee trends
Coffee franchises like Dutch Bros, 7 Brew Coffee and Scooter’s Coffee are rising in popularity. What makes them differ from the ever-popular Starbucks or Dunkin’ is that they are always built as drive thru kiosks.
“Convenience is the key to the rise of drive-thru coffee franchises,” says Scooter’s website.
Their small footprint allows them to pop up in cities without using much square footage or parking lot space.
