‘Landman’ season 1 is over. Here’s all the Fort Worth and North Texas references
Taylor Sheridan’s “Landman” has finished its first season, which contained a multitude of references to Fort Worth and North Texas.
“Landman” is co-created and executive produced by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, who wrote and hosted the Texas Monthly’s podcast “Boomtown,” which the series is based on. The series premiered on Paramount+ in November 2024 and wrapped its 10-episode run on Jan. 12.
Billy Bob Thornton leads the series that filmed in and around Fort Worth in spring 2024.
Since the show is also set in Fort Worth and West Texas, viewers saw more than a few references to the region and the state as a whole.
With the first season over, here’s a look back at all the Texas filming locations and references made in each episode.
Episode 1: “Landman”
Petroleum Club of Fort Worth
Around the 25-minute mark, “Landman” shows a glimpse of the downtown Fort Worth skyline, including Frost Tower.
Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) is having a meal at the Petroleum Club of Fort Worth, which is located inside 777 Main. The club’s first meeting was held on May 25, 1953.
“Patch Cafe” in west Fort Worth
Around 31 minutes in, Tommy Norris (Thornton) meets up with a few folks for lunch at the “Patch Cafe.”
Originally, the west Fort Worth cafe storefront was only a shooting location for “Landman.” In June 2024, restaurant owner Philip Murrin announced that the location is being turned into a full-service Texas-themed restaurant.
Aledo ISD varsity jacket
Around 35 minutes in, Tommy (Thornton) picks up his daughter Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) from the Midland airport.
Ainsley brings along her boyfriend, Dakota (Drake Rodger), who is wearing an orange and black varsity jacket. This is a reference to Aledo, the Parker County city about 19 miles west of Fort Worth. The Aledo Bearcats are known for their football dominance, having won 12 state championships.
Ratliff Stadium
Soon after Tommy picks up the kids, they head over to Ratliff Stadium to watch a football game.
Located in Odessa, Ratliff is the home stadium of the Permian and Odessa high school football teams. The stadium was also a key filming location for the 2004 film “Friday Night Lights,” which also starred Thornton.
Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech
Around 41 minutes in, Cooper Norris (Jacob Lofland) returns home from a day working in the oil patch.
He and his fellow crew mates have dinner together in one of their houses. Cooper is seen wearing a red Texas Tech hat, while Luis Medina (Emilio Rivera) is wearing a Dallas Cowboys shirt.
Episode 2: “Dreamers and Losers”
TX Whiskey
Around six minutes into the episode, Dale (James Jordan) comes home and pours himself a glass of TX Whiskey.
TX Whiskey is distilled in Fort Worth at the company’s “Whiskey Ranch” at 2601 Whiskey Ranch Road. The Star-Telegram toured the facilities last year.
Large Fort Worth property
Around 10 minutes in, the camera pans over a large house in Fort Worth where Monty (Jon Hamm) and Cami Miller (Demi Moore) live.
The Fort Worth house is at 1200 Western Ave., near the River Crest Country Club. According to Zillow, it is sold and has a market value of nearly $10 million.
Faith Community Hospital
Around 19 minutes in, Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) is checked out at Midland General Hospital for a smashed finger.
The exterior of the hospital was filmed at Faith Community Hospital in Jacksboro, Texas. Jacksboro High School’s baseball field can also be seen in the background.
TCU Lowdon Track and Field Complex
Around 25 minutes in, Monty (Hamm) and Cami Miller (Moore) are seen watching their daughter run a track meet at TCU’s Lowdon Track and Field Complex.
This scene was filmed at the real TCU facility in February 2024.
Hotel Drover
Around 41 minutes in, Monty (Hamm) and Cami Miller (Demi Moore) are seen at the Hotel Drover for an event.
The Hotel Drover is located in the Fort Worth Stockyards. In conversation with the Star-Telegram, Thornton said he briefly stayed at the Drover while in town filming “Landman.”
Whataburger
Around 47 minutes in, Tommy (Thornton) gets home with Whataburger for his daughter Ainsley (Michelle Randolph).
The Texas burger chain was founded in 1950 in Corpus Christi. Now, Whataburger has over 700 locations across several states.
Episode 3: “Hell Has a Front Yard”
Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport
The episode kicks off with Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) picking up his ex-wife Angela (Ali Larter) from the Aero Midland Airport.
The airport has been seen a few times throughout the series thus far and appears to be the Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport, which is located in north Fort Worth.
“Landman” filmed at both the Alliance Airport and Fort Worth Meacham International Airport, according to the Fort Worth Film Commission.
River Crest Country Club
Around three minutes in, Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) is seen playing a round of golf at Fort Worth’s River Crest Country Club.
The club is one of the oldest in Fort Worth, with roots tracing back to the 1910s. River Crest Country Club is located at 1501 Western Ave.
Hilton Fort Worth
Around 16 minutes in, Tommy Norris (Thornton) picks up Rebecca Falcone (Kayla Wallace) from her Midland hotel.
There’s a quick shot of the outside of the hotel that looks like it was filmed at the Hilton Fort Worth at 815 Main St.
Episode 4: “The Sting of Second Chances”
American Association of Professional Landmen
Around four-and-a-half minutes in, Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) is testifying at a deposition at a Midland law firm.
After a few brief comments, the litigators and Tommy move into a nearby conference room where Rebecca Falcone (Kayla Wallace) settles a huge lawsuit. Wallace spoke with Star-Telegram about filming the big scene.
While set up to look like a Midland law firm, the filming location was actually the Fort Worth headquarters of the American Association of Professional Landmen.
The association serves as a resource for land management professionals and has nearly 12,000 members. When “Landman” premiered on Nov. 17, the association held a watch party at their Fort Worth office at 800 Fournier St.
A law firm was previously based in the Fort Worth building before the landman association moved in.
‘Aledo’s mother of the year’
Around 22 minutes in, Tommy (Thornton) and Rebecca (Wallace) are having a drink at the Patch Cafe after the deposition.
Tommy’s ex-wife Angela (Ali Larter) and daughter Ainsely (Michelle Randolph) also stop by the Cafe for a drink. After Tommy asks why the two are there, Angela says they wanted a drink since Ainsley is on spring break from high school.
“This is Aledo’s mother of the year in case you were wondering,” Tommy says to Rebecca.
This is another reference to Aledo, the oldest city in Parker County, and about 19 miles west of Fort Worth.
Sundance Square Plaza
Around 40 minutes in, Tommy (Thornton) calls Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) and tells him that a repaired oil pump is up and running.
Monty is walking through Fort Worth’s Sundance Square Plaza when he answers the call. Located in downtown Fort Worth, Sundance Square Plaza hosts a variety of events year-round, including live music on weekends.
Episode 5: “Where is Home”
The Crescent Club
Around 11 minutes in, Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) attends a breakfast with other oil tycoons.
The interior seems to match that of The Crescent Club in Dallas. Located on the 17th floor of 200 Crescent Court, the locale is a private dining club with a bar and main dining room.
North Fort Worth house
Around 37 minutes in, Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) returns to his Midland home for a family dinner.
Tommy’s house has been a fixture on the show this season. While set in Midland, the house is actually in Fort Worth at 12035 Vista Ranch Way. The 4,639 square-foot off-market house has an estimated value of $918,300, according to Zillow.
Episode 6: “Beware the Second Beating”
Fort Worth Stockyards
The beginning of the episode starts with a montage of locations across the Fort Worth Stockyards as Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) heads to Cowtown to meet with Monty Miller (Jon Hamm).
Since 1999, the Fort Worth Herd has been droving cattle daily through the Stockyards — leading 17 longhorns down East Exchange Avenue. The Herd drives cattle twice daily at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
In 1936, M.L. Leddy opened his first boots and saddle store in San Angelo. Due to high demand, Leddy opened his Fort Worth Stockyards location in 1941 at 2455 N. Main St.
Cattlemen’s Steak House opened its doors in the Stockyards in 1947. The Star-Telegram reported in 2022 that “Yellowstone” producer 101 Studios invested in the restaurant at 2458 N. Main St.
Aledo property
Around 14 minutes in, Angela (Ali Larter) arrives at her ex-husband’s Aledo home to pick up her car.
The house is actually located in Aledo at 107 Neuces Trail. The 19,265 square-foot off house has seven bedrooms, 13 bathrooms and has an estimated cost just over $7 million, according to Zillow.
Ezekiel Elliott
Around 28 minutes in, Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) calls Boss (Mustafa Speaks) about Cooper’s (Jacob Lofland) attack.
Boss is seen playing a football video game with his son and says, “Ain’t no way Tampa Bay is gonna stop Zeke on the five yard line.”
Boss is referring to former Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel “Zeke” Elliott.
Elliott was drafted fourth overall by the Cowboys in 2016 and played for Dallas from 2016 to 2022. After spending the 2023 season with the New England Patriots, Elliott returned to the Cowboys for the 2024 season and was released by the team after week 17.
Episode 7: “All Roads Lead to a Hole”
Body Machine Fitness
Around six minutes in, Angela (Ali Larter) and Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) are working out at a Midland gym.
The gym scene was filmed at Body Machine Fitness in Fort Worth at 2300 W. 7th St. Body Machine Fitness uses lights and music to help gym goers reach a flow-state, where they feel “unstoppable, focused and alive.”
Don Artemio
Around seven minutes in, Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) is having a business lunch at a Fort Worth restaurant.
This scene was filmed in Fort Worth at Don Artemio, 3268 W. 7th St.
The Mexican restaurant was a 2023 finalist for Best New Restaurant in the James Beard Foundation Awards. Adrian Burciaga and Chef Juan Ramón Cárdenas opened Don Artemio in April 2022 with the goal of transporting guests to Mexico, not only with the food but the architecture.
Hilltop Park Rehabilitation and Care Center
Around 13 minutes in, Angela (Ali Larter) and Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) drive by a Midland nursing home and later stop by to hangout with its residents.
The nursing home seen in the show is an actual nursing home named Hilltop Park Rehabilitation and Care Center.
Hilltop is located at 970 Hilltop Drive in Weatherford, Texas. The Star-Telegram recently spoke with Ainsley actress Michelle Randolph, who said “Landman” creator Taylor Sheridan’s wife Nicole volunteers at Hilltop.
Michaels
Around 16 minutes in, Angela (Ali Larter) stops by a Michaels to buy supplies for residents at the nursing home.
The exterior shot of the Michaels is of an actual Michaels in Fort Worth. Located at 359 Carroll St., the Fort Worth Micheals is part of the Montgomery Plaza shopping center.
Watauga Beer Barn
After stopping by Micheals, Angela (Ali Larter) visits a drive-thru liquor store to buy booze for the nursing home residents.
The drive-thru liquor store is another real location and located in Watauga, Texas. Watauga Beer Barn is open daily at 6320 Denton Highway.
Episode 8: “Clumsy, This Life”
Benbrook house
Episode eight begins with a sequence at Ariana’s (Paulina Chávez) house.
The house is located at 1103 Park Center St. in Benbrook, Texas. The off-market house has an estimated value of $278,400, according to Zillow.
Austin
Around five minutes in, Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) meets with the Governor of Texas in Austin.
A few shots are seen of the Texas Capitol building (1100 Congress Ave.) and at The Austin Club (110 E. 9th St.). The Texas Capitol building opened in 1888, while The Austin Club was founded in 1949.
Bowlero Watauga
Around 27 minutes in, Angela and Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) take the nursing home residents to a bowling alley.
The bowling alley is Bowlero located at 7301 Rufe Snow Drive, Watauga.
Episode 9: “WolfCamp”
Texas Health Clearfork
The episode begins with Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) visiting his friend Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) at a Fort Worth hospital after the latter suffered a heart attack.
This scene was filmed outside Fort Worth’s Texas Health Clearfork, at 5400 Clearfork Main St. The joint care facility is part of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest and is located near The Shops at Clearfork.
Rick’s Cabaret
Around six minutes in, Angela (Ali Larter) and Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) visit a Rick’s Cabaret strip club.
This scene was filmed at the Rick’s Cabaret in Fort Worth at 7101 Calmont Ave.
Rick’s is one of several clubs owned by Houston-based RCI Hospitality Holdings, Inc. Rick’s has another Fort Worth location at 15000 Airport Freeway.
Jerry Jones
Around nine minutes in, Jerry Jones, a real-life billionaire, is seen giving a speech to TV billionaire Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) after the latter’s latest heart attack.
Jones is the owner of the Dallas Cowboys and is worth over $16 billion, according to Forbes.
While this is the first time Jones has appeared in a series created by “Landman” writer Taylor Sheridan, it isn’t the first time they’ve crossed paths. In the Cowboys 2023 schedule release video, Sheridan was sent the team’s calendar while Jones was sent scripts for the latest season of “Yellowstone.”
‘I can handle a spoon, Romo’
Around 30 minutes in, the Norris family is having dinner. Angela (Ali Larter) serves paella and informs the group that it’s eaten with wooden spoons and no plates.
Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) doesn’t take too kindly to the traditional dinner service and brings a stack of plates to the table. Around the same time, Ainsley’s (Michelle Randolph) high school quarterback boyfriend Ryder (Mitchell Slaggert) offers to scoop a bite of food on Tommy’s spoon.
“I can handle a spoon, Romo,” Tommy tells him.
“Romo” refers to former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. The four-time NFL Pro Bowler played for the Cowboys from 2003-2016 and is now a broadcaster for CBS Sports.
Episode 10: “The Crumbs of Hope”
USMD Fort Worth Clearfork Clinic
Around 13 minutes in, Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) walks outside a Fort Worth hospital to talk to Cami Miller (Demi Moore).
This scene was filmed outside the USMD Fort Worth Clearfork Clinic at 5450 Clearfork Main St. suite 230. The facility is located next door to Texas Health Clearfork, which was featured in the ninth episode.
The Tire Shop
Around an hour and 10 minutes in, Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) is seen talking outside a tire shop with Gallino (Andy Garcia).
This scene was filmed at The Tire Shop in Fort Worth at 3201 N. Main St.
The Tire Shop is an event center in the former building of an actual tire shop — Gomez Tire & Inspections. Gomez was located at the North Main Street location until last summer and moved to 1325 NW. 25th St.
“Landman” is streaming on Paramount+.
