Texas Rangers named as possible trade partner for Baltimore Orioles all-star

The Texas Rangers could be in the market for a center fielder, according to Jon Morosi, who said the team could be a suitor for Baltimore Orioles’ Cedric Mullins.

“I’ve got one named circled on that Orioles lineup, and that is Cedric Mullins, who’s off to an excellent start, is a pending free agent and when you think about the type of player who makes a massive impact at the deadline it’s this type of player...he can steal you a base, he can play above average defense, he can bat anywhere you need in the lineup,” said Morosi, “For all those reasons you think about the Phillies being a tremendous fit for him, I would even see a team like the Rangers possibly being a good fit.”

Mullins is in his eighth season in the MLB, all with the Orioles, and is batting .229 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs.

The Orioles (15-25) have struggled to open the season and sit eight games out of first place in the American League East, though Morosi acknowledged it was still a bit too soon for the team to be sellers.

The Rangers’ offense has struggled this season, ranking in the bottom half of the MLB in runs (26th), batting average (25th) and hits (25th).

The Rangers are in the midst of a five-game winning streak and will look to extend it when they play the Colorado Rockies at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday.
