The Texas Rangers recall infielder Jake Burger from minor leagues

The Texas Rangers recalled Jake Burger from Triple-A Round Rock on Monday, the team announced.

Burger was one of the Rangers’ marquee acquisitions of the offseason, trading with the Miami Marlins to acquire the infielder. Like much of the offense, Burger struggles to start the season, batting .190 with three home runs and 12 RBIs.

The Rangers optioned Burger on May 2 in hopes of getting him back on track, and the first baseman hit well in his six games at Round Rock, batting .391 with two home runs and six RBIs.

To make room for Burger on the roster, the Rangers optioned Blaine Crim to Triple-A Round Rock after the infielder made his MLB debut against the Seattle Mariners.

Crim went hitless in 11 at-bats with a walk and a run scored.

The Texas Rangers will look to extend their two-game winning streak when they play the Colorado Rockies at 7:05 p.m. on Monday at Globe Life Field.
