Top 10 Fort Worth-area high school linebackers feature commits to Texas, LA Tech
Another position group in the Fort Worth area is linebacker, where this season’s Top 6 are verbally committed. Two others are in the Class of 2022 with multiple scholarship offers on the table.
By now, we all know that COVID-19 has forced a delay of the start of the Class 5A, 6A and private school seasons until September. While most 4A-1A programs will kick off on time, we get you set for the 2020 campaign.

1. Morice Blackwell, Sr., Arlington Martin
6-1, 200, 4 stars, Texas commit
Ranked as the No. 20 outside linebacker in the country for the Class of 2021 by 247Sports. Also ranked as the No. 48 2021 prospect in the state. Chose Texas over 13 other offers, including Baylor and Alabama. 240 tackles and six forced fumbles during the past two seasons. Named District MVP as a junior and Defensive Newcomer as a sophomore.
2. J’Dan Burnett, Sr., Nolan Catholic
6-0, 200, 3 stars, Louisiana Tech commit
Also playing defensive end, Burnett chose LA Tech over 15 other offers. Named TAPPS first-team all-state defensive end with 69 tackles, 15 for loss, 14 1/2 sacks and seven forced fumbles.
3. Brett Drillette, Sr. Brock
6-3, 215, 3 stars, Louisiana-Monroe commit
Also lines up at defensive end. Was named district defensive player of the year and first-team all-state after making 145 tackles and nine sacks last season.
4. Raam Stevenson Jr., Sr., Mansfield Timberview
6-3, 200, 3 stars, Washington State commit
Also lines up at defensive end. Chose the Cougars over 12 other offers. Has 72 tackles and 17 sacks during the past two seasons.
5. Myion Hicks, Sr., Arlington Pantego
6-0, 200, Furman commit
Chose Furman over seven other offers, including Air Force. Recorded 110 tackles each of the past two seasons.
6. Marsel McDuffie, Sr., South Grand Prairie
6-1, 220, 3 stars, UNLV commit
Ranked as the No. 62 inside linebacker in the country for the Class of 2021 by 247Sports.

Recorded 99 tackles, 12 for loss last season. Offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Boston College, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, SMU, Washington State and Buffalo.
8. Drew DeArman, Jr., Arlington Bowie

Ranked as the No. 45 outside linebacker in the country for the Class of 2022. Offers from San Diego State and Illinois State. Recorded 74 tackles, 10 for loss last season.
