Texas, LSU commits headline Top 10 Fort Worth-area high school defensive backs
State champions, all-state contenders and a ton of FBS talent across the board as the 2020 high school football season will see another great group of defensive backs in the Fort Worth area.
By now, we all know that COVID-19 has forced a delay of the start of the Class 5A, 6A and private school seasons until September. While most 4A-1A programs will kick off on time, we get you set for the 2020 campaign.

1. J.D. Coffey, Sr., Kennedale
6-1, 180, 4 stars, Texas commit
Ranked as the No. 7 safety in the country for the Class of 2021 by 247Sports. Also ranked as the No. 30 overall 2021 prospect in the state. Chose Texas over 31 other offers. In three seasons, Coffey has recorded 200 tackles, 16 interceptions and is a three-time all-state selection. District Defensive MVP last fall.
2. Bryan Allen Jr., Jr., Aledo
6-1, 180, 4 stars, LSU commit
Ranked as the No. 2 safety in the country for the Class of 2022 by 247Sports. Also ranked as the No. 11 2022 prospect in the state. Chose the Tigers over 19 other offers. Made 122 tackles and three picks last season. Named District Defensive Newcomer of the Year in back-to-back seasons (with Fort Worth Southwest as a freshman).
3. Landon Hullaby, Jr., Mansfield Timberview
6-0, 185, 3 stars
Ranked as the No. 19 safety in the country for the Class of 2022 by 247Sports. Also ranked as the No. 43 2022 prospect in the state. Holds 21 offers, which include TCU, Texas, Baylor, USC, Utah, Auburn, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. Named District Defensive Newcomer of the Year last season.
4. Cisco Caston, Sr., Weatherford
6-2, 195, 3 stars, Baylor commit
Chose the Bears over 17 other offers. Ranked as the No. 36 safety in the country for the Class of 2021 by 247Sports. Recorded 143 tackles during the past two seasons for the Kangaroos.
5. C.J. Baskerville, Sr., Richland
6-2, 185, 3 stars
Ranked as the No. 45 safety in the country for the Class of 2021 by 247Sports. Holds 10 offers and is projected to commit with Oklahoma State. Recorded 85 tackles and seven deflections last season.
6. Ronald Wilson, Sr., North Crowley
5-10, 180, 3 stars, New Mexico commit
Named second-team all-area defense after 98 tackles, seven picks and six forced fumbles.
7. Christian Smith-Johnson, Jr., Richland
6-0, 160
Named to the Class 6A AP all-state team last season as a sophomore after 51 tackles, 10 pass deflections and seven interceptions.
8. Johnny Smith-Rider, Sr., Haltom
5-9, 175
Over 200 tackles, 20 pass deflections with five forced fumbles, seven recoveries and eight picks during the past two seasons.
9. Placide Djungu-Sungu, Sr., Arlington Martin
6-0, 170, 3 stars, Duke commit
Ranked as the No. 57 safety in the country for the Class of 2021 by 247Sports. Chose the Blue Devils over 16 other offers. Recorded 83 tackles, six deflections and two interceptions last season.
10. Damon Gentry Jr., Sr., Fort Worth Wyatt
6-0, 175, 3 stars, New Mexico commit
Five interceptions last season for the Chaparrals.
