Ja’Quinden Jackson, Duncanville’s 4-star QB, will miss state title game with injury
Duncanville star quarterback Ja’Quinden Jackson will miss Saturday’s state championship game vs. Galena Park North Shore with a torn ACL he suffered in the semifinals against Rockwall on Dec. 14.
During the second quarter, Jackson ran a QB keeper and was knocked to the ground. He remained there for several minutes as the training staff tended to his injured left knee.
He had to be assisted off the field and finished the game on the sidelines with crutches.
Now Duncanville will ride the shoulders of freshman Chris Parson.
Parson will make his first varsity start in the 6A Division I title game at 3 p.m. on Saturday at AT&T Stadium.
“Chris panicked a little bit at first, but he settled down, stepped it up and got the job done,” said Duncanville coach Reginald Samples of Parson, who threw a 36-yard touchdown and ran for a 38-yard TD vs. Rockwall.
Jackson, who signed his national letter of intent with the University of Texas on Wednesday during the early signing period, ends his senior season with over 2,700 yards total offense and 37 TDs.
The 4-star prospect is ranked as the No. 3 Athlete in the nation and No. 13 overall player in the state, according to 247Sports.
Jackson had 26 offers when he committed to Texas in June.
Last season, the Panthers reached the state title game for the first time since 1998, but lost on the final play against North Shore. Jackson finished the year with over 3,000 yards and 38 TDs.
